Woodstock Festival

In mid-August 1969 at one of the farms on the outskirts of New York, took place one of the most famous festivals of rock music. The huge territory of the farm allowed to comprise about 450 thousand people in those times - it's just unreasonable! Festival has got its name because it was originally planned to take place in the town of Woodstock Ulster County, but due to lack of suitable area (it was expected that about one million visitors will come!), the festival moved to 40 miles south of Woodstock. Why did Woodstock festival became a landmark in the history of rock? Perhaps, because a show of such level of presentation took place for the first time in rock music at that time. Secondly, there were performed quite popular groups and singers, for example such as: Janice Joplin, Joan Baez, Ravi Shankar, Grateful Dead. The popularity of the group "The Who" has risen to the level of super-stars of rock after the presentation at the festival. Their song "See Me, Feel Me" that was sung at the festival allowed their album Tommy to become multiplatinum.
